ISANGE ONE STOP CENTER
The Isange One Stop Center (IOSC) of Remera-Rukoma District Hospital provides comprehensive, free, confidential, and survivor-centered care for victims of gender-based violence (GBV), child abuse, domestic violence, and sexual violence. The center brings multiple essential services together in one location to ensure victims receive timely medical, psychosocial, social,legal, and protective support. It plays a vital role in protecting victims, promoting justice, and supporting recovery through the following services:
- Emergency Medical Care
- Provide immediate treatment for injuries resulting from violence or abuse.
- Manage medical emergencies related to physical and sexual assault.
- Clinical Management of Sexual Violence
- Conduct medical examinations.
- Prevent HIV infection through Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP).
- Prevent sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
- Provide emergency contraception to prevent unwanted pregnancy when appropriate.
- Administer necessary vaccinations, such as tetanus and hepatitis B, when indicated.
- Forensic Medical Examination
- Collect, preserve, and document forensic evidence to support legal investigations and court proceedings while maintaining confidentiality and proper chain of custody.
- Psychological Counseling and Mental Health Support
- Offer trauma counseling, emotional support, crisis intervention, and ongoing psychological care to victims and their families.
- Legal Assistance and Justice Support
- Collaborate with police, prosecutors, and other justice institutions to facilitate legal processes and help victims access justice.
- Protection and Social Support
- Assess victims' safety needs and connect them with social protection services, safe room, child protection services, and other community resources.
- Case Management and Follow-up
- Coordinate multidisciplinary care and ensure survivors receive continued medical, psychological, legal, and social support throughout their recovery.
- Referral Services
- Refer victims to specialized healthcare providers, rehabilitation services, social welfare agencies, or other organizations when additional care is required.
- Confidential and Survivor-Centered Care
- Ensure all services are delivered with dignity, privacy, respect, and without discrimination, while prioritizing the victim's safety and informed consent.
- Community Awareness and Prevention
- Support public education and awareness initiatives aimed at preventing gender-based violence, promoting children's rights, and encouraging early reporting of abuse.
