ARV
The ARV (Antiretroviral) Service of Remera-Rukoma District Hospital provides comprehensive prevention, treatment, care, and long-term follow-up services for people living with HIV/AIDS. Its goal is to improve health outcomes, reduce HIV transmission, and support patients to live healthy and productive lives through the following services:
- HIV Testing and Linkage to Care
Confirming HIV diagnosis and ensuring patients are enrolled in appropriate treatment and follow-up services. - Provision of Antiretroviral Therapy (ART)
Prescribing and dispensing antiretroviral medications to suppress the virus and improve patient health. - Clinical Monitoring and Follow-up
Monitoring patients’ progress through regular consultations, laboratory tests, and treatment reviews. - Medication Adherence Support
Educating and supporting patients to take medications correctly and consistently. - Prevention of HIV Transmission
Providing counseling and interventions to reduce transmission and promote safer health practices. - Management of Opportunistic Infections
Identifying, preventing, and treating infections and conditions associated with weakened immunity. - Laboratory Monitoring
Coordinating viral load testing, CD4 monitoring, and other investigations to assess treatment effectiveness. - Psychosocial Support and Counseling
Offering emotional support, counseling, and guidance to patients and families. - Health Education and Patient Empowerment
Educating patients on healthy lifestyles, nutrition, treatment adherence, and self-care. - Improving Quality of Life
Supporting patients in achieving long-term wellbeing and maintaining productive and healthy lives.
