The Senate Committee on Political Affairs and Governance visited Remera-Rukoma District Hospital.

A delegation from the Senate Committee on Political Affairs and Governance, led by Senator Gasana Alfred, visited Remera-Rukoma District Hospital to assess activities aimed at strengthening legal support services at the hospital’s Isange One Stop Center.

The delegation was briefed on the center’s operations and held discussions with some hospital staff, alongside representatives from the District, the District Criminal Investigation Unit (DCI), and other relevant institutions. The objective was to understand the overall situation of the Isange One Stop Center, its collaboration with other stakeholders, the challenges it faces, and recommendations for improvement.

It was highlighted that the number of victims receiving support at the center is increasing, including children who conceal abuse committed against them by their parents, as well as cases involving children who are admitted without being registered in the civil status system.
