Background
Remera-Rukoma District Hospital has 164 beds and provides health services to more than 489,923 people through 14 health centers located in Kamonyi District. The hospital was established in 1927 by the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda (EPR). Initially, it started as an infirmary with a nutrition service that later developed into a dispensary. In 1978, under the leadership of Sister Karara, it was upgraded to a hospital. New buildings were later constructed for the maternity ward, outpatient clinic, pediatrics, internal medicine, offices, laboratory, and emergency services.
The hospital is located in Rukoma Sector, Remera Cell, Kabande Village approximately 30 kilometers from Kigali.

To provide standard health care services while promoting Christian values, as the hospital is supported by the Presbyterian Church in Rwanda (EPR) and other Protestant churches in Rwanda.

Dr. JARIBU THEOGENE
Director General
Dr. Jaribu Theogene, MD, has served as the Director General of Remera Rukoma Hospital since 2015.
He has extensive professional experience in the healthcare sector, having worked in several hospitals since 2008, including Nemba Hospital, Ruhengeri Hospital, King Faisal Hospital, and Kacyiru Hospital.
Prior to joining Remera-Rukoma District Hospital, he served in the United Nations mission in Haiti as Chief Medical Officer for the UN Clinic.
Remera-Rukoma District Hospital is located in Kamonyi District and supervises 14 health centers.
