Safe Anesthesia. Advanced Critical Care.

The Anesthesiology and Critical Care Service at Remera-Rukoma District Hospital delivers safe and effective anesthesia, continuous patient monitoring, pain control, and advanced life-support care for individuals undergoing surgical procedures or facing severe illness or injury.Its key responsibilities include:

  1. Administration of Anesthesia
    • Providing anesthesia before, during, and after surgical or medical procedures to ensure patient comfort and safety.
  2. Preoperative Patient Assessment
    • Evaluating patients before surgery to determine the safest anesthesia plan and reduce potential risks.
  3. Intraoperative Monitoring and Support
    • Continuously monitoring vital signs such as heart rate, blood pressure, breathing, and oxygen levels during procedures.
  4. Post-Anesthesia Recovery Care
    • Supervising patient recovery after procedures and ensuring safe transition to normal body functions.
  5. Critical Care and Intensive Care Services
    • Providing care for critically ill patients requiring close monitoring and advanced life-support treatment, with referral to higher-level healthcare facilities for specialized management when needed.
  6. Emergency Stabilization and Life Support
    • Supporting patients with severe trauma, respiratory failure, shock, or other life-threatening conditions.
  7. Pain Management
    • Assessing and treating acute and chronic pain through appropriate medical interventions.  
  8. Airway and Respiratory Management
    • Ensuring patients maintain adequate breathing and oxygenation during critical conditions or procedures.
  9. Coordination of Multidisciplinary Care
    • Working closely with surgeons, physicians, nurses, and other specialists to optimize patient outcomes.
