The Out-Patients Department (OPD) of Remera-Rukoma District Hospital is the first point of contact between patients and the hospital. Its role is to provide medical consultation, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care to patients who do not require hospital admission.

The department provides the following services:

  1. Patient Reception and Registration
    Receiving patients, registering their information, and directing them to the appropriate services.
  2. Medical Consultation and Assessment
    Providing access to healthcare professionals for clinical evaluation and medical advice.
  3. Diagnosis and Investigation
    Coordinating laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostic services to support clinical decision-making and treatment.
  4. Treatment and Minor Procedures
    Providing medications, treatment plans, and performing minor procedures that do not require hospital admission.
  5. Referral and Coordination of Care
    Referring patients to specialized clinics, emergency services, or inpatient departments when necessary.
  6. Follow-up and Continuity of Care
    Monitoring patients’ progress through follow-up visits and ongoing management of health conditions.
  7. Health Education and Prevention
    Educating patients on disease prevention, healthy lifestyles, medication adherence, and self-care practices.
  8. Improving Access to Healthcare Services
    Ensuring patients receive timely and efficient care while reducing unnecessary hospital admissions.
